Brenda Braxton

Actress, author, philanthropist, and trailblazing entrepreneur Brenda Braxton has a storied career that encompasses, stage, television and screen; creating life affirming programs for women and teens; and owning the first men’s barber spa in Harlem. She is a native New Yorker and graduate of the High School for the Performing Arts. Brenda was featured on Broadway in SMOKEY JOE’S CAFÉ where she was nominated for a Tony Award and was the recipient of the NAACP Theater Award, Chicago’s Jefferson Award and a Grammy for Best Cast Album.

 

In 2003 she joined the Broadway cast of CHICAGO in the starring role of Velma Kelly opposite BeBe Neuwirth, Rita Wilson and USHER. A few of her other Broadway credits include Jelly’s Last Jam, Cats, LEGS DIAMOND and the original production of DREAMGIRLS. She currently serves as a theater consultant for The Lion King Broadway. Her TV credits include Nurse Jackie, SMASH, Girls Getaway Gone Wrong 2 and most recently Partner Madeline on The Good Fight Season 3, 4 and 5 on Paramount +. In 2015 Ms. Braxton launched Act 2... Now What?, seminars designed to give women over 50 that boost needed to get on with the NEW phase of their lives. Act 2... Now What? was launched with “Afternoon of Possibilities”. One in New York City and the second Johannesburg South Africa!

 

In 2016, with 40+ years in theater under her belt, she wrote her first book; The Little Black Book of Backstage Etiquette to help new artists navigate through their life behind the scenes in theater As a life long purveyor and practitioner of wholistic health, natural beauty regimens and treatments, she is pleased to present her latest venture, PAUSE by BBRAXTON specifically designed to ease the stress and anxiety for women experiencing the various challenges of menopause.
